Malacca, Malaysia
to my American friend & colleague, i present to you some pics from my home country.
taken from my Malacca road trip in Dec last year.
Malacca is probably the most historical State in Malaysia.
as far as i know, local historians here consider this to be where Malaysian history started with the founding of the Malaccan Empire in the 14th century.
A' Famosa Fort, or "The Famous" in Portuguese, was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. If you wonder why the fortress is so small, it is coz you are just looking at the gate. The rest of the fort has been destroyed.
The clock tower at The Stadhuys, built by the Dutch in the 17th century. It is now converted into a history museum.
A portrayal of the fight between Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat, the 2 greatest warriors in the history of Malaccan Empire.
The Orang Utan House... an art house that sells tshirts, key chains etc with drawings of orang utan
An eatery with an interesting Chinese decor... selling one of Malacca's trademark food ie the Chicken Rice Ball
Jonker Walk. The night street market selling stuff like, u know, street market stuff... and coincidentally there was this Bruce Lee competition.
The Malacca River.
