Arlington National Cemetery

officially designated as a national cemetery in the 19th century,
this is where many of the American war heroes lay buried,
including those that fell in the two World Wars, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraqi War,
and some of the past Presidents of the United States of America.

being an outsider, i never knew the significance of this cemetery until now.

*solemn*

The neatly arranged rows of tombstones

do u see the variety of tomsbtone sizes?
the bigger ones belong to the the higher ranking officials.
and i had impression that all tombstones were of the same size, until i saw this.

spoooooky tree...

the Arlington House. Notice the flag is flown at half-staff?
my guess is that it's a sign of respect and honour for the fallen ones.

Gravesite of the President John F. Kennedy, and his wife Jacqueline Onassis.

and to the right is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Unknown here means the soldiers could not be identified at all.
i won't explain the gory details here...

and here we are, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,
just in time to see the soldiers performing the change of guards.

The big sarcophagus is above the grave of the Unknown Soldier of World War I.
The 3 white marble slabs flushed with the ground, are the crypts of the unknowns from World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.

Potbelly

Potbelly, Sandwich Works

Another one of my favourite place.
freaking delicious sandwiches, for only $3.99!

found this place by chance,
just opposite the cinema i frequent,
about 5mins from where i stay.

and they have an awesome guitarist who plays there.

i keep going back for the great sandwich, and the music.

really cool place...

Now, take a look inside the belly.
i like the interior, exudes a warm and cosy feeling.
Can you also see the guitarist/singer at the 2nd storey?
