Slaving, or not slaving?

We are all slaves to something.
Slaves to our commitments, slaves to our work,
slaves to education, slaves to prejudice,
slaves to our cravings, slaves to our greed?

When you start to dread something, you start to want out of it,
And if you are still in it, you start to become slave to it.

When you like it, you don’t dread doing it,
And when you enjoy it, you are not slave to it.

Having a proactive purpose in life,
means to take action to achieve that purpose rite?
So does this mean that if you find it a chore, you are slaving for that goal?
But if you find it a joy, you are not slaving?

To my friends and family,
Often enough, we have been slaves to some things.
And for some of us, we are still slaving with certain issues.
I can only say that if the goal is worth chasing,
then set the minds and hearts to go for it (provided it doesn’t kill you)

To my friends and family,
If you are happy chasing it, well done, you are one rare lucky bugger.
If you find yourself slaving in the process,
either bite the bullet chasing it, or simply don’t chase anything yet…
just float around till you find something worthwhile.

Taiwan Work Attachment, August 2004

Yes yes i know, super duper backdated pics... but i was just looking at my old digi pics, and so now here's another blog entry :p

That's me trying out "chau taufu" (smelly tofu) for the 1st time ever... the flavour it leaves on my tastebuds was not as bad as the odour that it leaves in my nose

Hmm looks like a sanctuary where i can learn Shaolin martial arts, but it's a restaurant now

Taipei 101, one of the tallest buildings in the world... hmm can't remember if it is now still the tallest

And that's me holding a half empty Smirnoff vodka bottle ;) hey it was given out free, so just take and quench my thirst la

Fish ponds, in the fish farm owned by the dad of one of my Taiwanese colleague... had my first fishing attempt here, although an unsuccessful one

Chinese New Year

maaannn, the reunion dinner is tomorrow...
another CNY away from home, possibly the 4th yr in a row.

now why is that so?
busy with studies, occupied with work?
my bros cant go home, so my folks come down here instead?
just lazy to go back???

nah, it can't be laziness coz i know i miss home...
been missing home for sometime now,
but my folks still come down often, making any trip home less appealing.

but u see, this is a vicious cycle!
we don't go home, so my folks come down,
and if they come down, we don't see the need to go home...
gotta break this cycle somehow.

speaking of home, i have made myself at home here,
feeling at ease with S'pore & its people,
regarding their weird nuances as part of a unique lifestyle,
accepting them for who they are, being my friends & colleagues.

and in this home away from home,
i have ironically bonded closer with more ppl from my homeland.
it's a small world after all rite?
and we are intertwined closely somehow,
by some hidden force that brings us together, called Fate...
by some mambo jumbo nonsense that i m spouting :p

with this, to all of you, pls have a great Chinese New Year!

NB: the author has been reminded numerous times by numerous ppl to blog... so there u go, i have posted an entry for the month :p
